DescriptionSoviet Star Plate by Adamovich 1921.jpg | That photo was taken in the museum in London, England. See Mikhail Mikhailovich ADAMOVICH. The plate dates from 1920. I find it interesting because the poverty was such -- during and after the Russian Revolution -- that most people wouldn't have had decorative dishes like this. Hence, this 'communist' imagery actually was intertwined with social disparities. Right now, I don't have much of a sense of the messages that actually are conveyed on the plates, but I can say that the imagery and the text at least is tied to other messages about a revolution by and for common people -- who usually wouldn't have had plates like these |
