| Description |
English: Two buses on Stand E of Newport, Isle of Wight bus station. On the left is Southern Vectis 313 Stag Rock (HW54 BUU), a Dennis Dart SLF/Plaxton Pointer 2 MPD. On the right is Wilts & Dorset 711 (TIL 6711), a Leyland-bodied Leyland Olympian. Both are on route 1. It was Cowes Week at the time, so larger buses were being run on route 1 as duplicates. Cowes Pontoon (Red Jet Terminal) was not being served after 10am each day during Cowes Week, buses turning instead at the Co-op, so the use of buses that could not fit onto the Pontoon was not an issue. 711 was part of the Go South Coast events fleet at the time. At the time the photo was taken, 711 was laying over out of service briefly, meaning 313 had to load its passengers in the road across the front of it. The bus behind 711 had to reverse out into the road to get past it. |
