Description
English: Sounding Arch seat - Romsey - Hampshire - England.
  • Situated on Ryedown Lane, a few metres west of the crossroads with Gardeners Lane.
  • This stone seat was made in 1966 from the stones of a bridge built in 1818, known as the Sounding Arch, which connected two parts of the Embley estate and was often used by Florence Nightingale.
  • There was a legend that a phantom coach and horses could be seen crossing the bridge on New Year's Eve.
