It is unnecessary to describe all the details ofhis reception and entertainment while here. Letit suffice when it is said that almost every one inthe community turned out and vied in doinghonor to him, who when the infant republic mostneeded help, left his own land and cast his fortunewith us, and lived to see the independence of acountry declared which has grown and prosper-ed ever since.
