Rocket attacks on Gaza since Monday killed more than 122 Palestinians, including 31 children. Earlier, Israel attacked visitors to Al Aqsa mosque with rubber bullets and tear gas canisters. Aware of their impunity, the extreme violence of right wing settlers is also growing. This cycle of violence began with the efforts of the apartheid regime to purge the Sheikh Jarrah neighborhood of Jerusalem from Palestinians. Parts of Jerusalem that would have been inhabited by Jews before the creation of Israel can now be confiscated by them again, while the right of return of Palestinians who were expelled in 1948 is denied. This Saturday is the 73th anniversary of the Nakba, when the process of ethnic cleansing of Palestinians began and the State of Israel was established. The violence we have seen in recent weeks is in fact the continuation of the Nakba. There is loyal support for the State of Israel from the West. Trump moved the US embassy to Jerusalem and Biden refuses to reverse this decision. Billions of dollars from the international community still go to Israel every year. Western governments such as that of the Netherlands have condemned in recent days only the rockets fired by the Palestinians and not the structural violence and colonial politics on the Israeli side. Resistance against Israel is growing. In the first place by the Palestinians themselves. Under pressure from their protests, the far-right march on Jerusalem Day was called off Monday. International pressure is also growing. For example, the American NGO Human Rights Watch called the discriminatory Israeli policy a form of Apartheid, a crime against humanity under international law, and the movement for Boycotts, Divestments and Sanctions (BDS) is also growing. We will take to the streets on Sunday and call on the Dutch state to condemn the Israeli violence in recent weeks and to impose sanctions against Apartheid. We demand the cessation of military cooperation with Israel and the suspension of the association treaty. The time to take it easy is long gone, it is time for real measures. The protest will take place on Dam Square on Sunday 16 May from 2:00 pm to 5:00 pm. Respect the corona rules: mouth masks and keep a distance of one and a half meters from each other.
