English: More than eight Royal Netherlands Army soldiers participate in the Naval Small Craft Instruction and Technical Training School’s Patrol Craft Advanced Training (PCAT) tactical course on John C. Stennis Space Center, December 10, 2019.
The 20-1 PCAT course featured commandos from the Royal Netherlands Army Korps Commandotroepen, the equivalent of U.S. Army Green Berets, and elements from the 12th Infantry Battalion, 11th Air Assault Brigade. PCAT is a five-week unit-based course of instruction that provides established international military and police maritime special operations teams with advanced training in the operation of patrol craft, while conducting coastal/riverine special operations missions. Course topics include patrol craft familiarization, patrol boat light (PBL) tactical operations, coastal/riverine navigation, launch and recovery site security, dynamic waterborne range evolutions, immediate actions in response to ambush and the insertion and extraction of ground forces. A scenario driven tactical field exercise conducted under simulated combat conditions is used to assess the group's proficiency in the course objectives. NAVSCIATTS is a Security Cooperation schoolhouse operating under United States Special Operations Command in support of Foreign Security Assistance and Geographic Combatant Commanders' Theater Security Cooperation priorities. NAVSCIATTS trains and educates foreign Special Operations Forces, SOF-like forces and SOF enablers across the tactical, operational and strategic spectrums through in-residence and Mobile Training Team Courses of Instruction; and serves as USSOCOM's premier Security Force Assistance training asset. More than 12,000 students from 121Partner Nations have trained with this Naval Special Warfare command since 1963. (Photos by Michael Williams) |
