Description
English: Spc. Chris Peckman (left), a Renton, Wash., native with the 4th Squadron (Recon), 6th Cavalry Regiment, 16th Combat Aviation Brigade, and Sgt. Jeremy Sablan, a native of Saipan, with the 14th Engineer Battalion, 555th Engineer Brigade, wait for instructions from the tower during the weapons qualification portion of the 7th Infantry Division Bayonet Soldier and Noncommissioned Officer of the Year competition, May 15. The top Soldiers and NCOs from the division's seven subordinate brigades competed between May 15 and May 17 for the coveted title of Bayonet Soldier and NCO of the Year. The three-day competition tested Soldiers in various areas, including the Army Physical Fitness Test, weapons qualification, day and night land navigation, a written essay and exam and a board appearance. The winners will be announced, May 23, during the division's Bayonet Week.
