Description
English: The folded and convoluted bedding seen in this outcrop is soft-sediment derformation. Such features can be caused by ancient storms or ancient earthquakes (resulting in seismites) or sediment slumping.

The host rock is eolian quartzose sandstone - this is an ancient sand dune deposit. The soft-sediment deformation in this case occurred during failure events of portions of the nonlithified dunes. In other words, portions of the sand dunes shifted and collapsed.
