Summary

[edit]
Description
English: Snowdrops, Crocuses and Beech leaves A sure sign that Spring is on its way - the Snowdrops are joined by a colourful mixture of Crocuses growing up through the dead Beech Leaves here in the gardens at Greenway Bank Country Park. http://www.staffordshire.gov.uk/environment/e-land/Countryside/OpenSpaces/OpenSpacesGreenwayBank.htm The bulbs for both species were most likely planted here originally but have become naturalised over the years, having been well fed by the rotting leaves that have gathered here. Later on, when the Beech trees have produced new leaves there will be very little that can grow here because of the exclusion of light by the natural, thick, canopy overhead.
