Summary
[edit]DescriptionSnowboard gloves with integrated wrist protection.jpg |
English: Snowboard gloves with integrated wrist protection. The left glove is partly dismantled to show the removable rigid plastic element which is in a pouch on the back of the hand/glove. The ca. 15 cm long and 3 cm wide, quite rigid plastic element is in a pouch on the back of the hand. With the velcro strap, this element is tightly fixated to the wrist, such that the wrist has a reduced freedom to be bent upwards - in this way, the wearer is protected against one of the most common injuries while snowboarding, which happens when the boarder falls to the front and tries to dampen the impact by falling on his hands. As the human wrists are not designed by nature to withstand such high forces in this manner, they may consequently break under unlucky circumstances. The producer of the gloves (bought c. 2004, thus about 20 years old at the time of this video) is Reusch, the model name includes "Ortho-Tec". |
