English: An army of bulldozers climb the massive snow pile outside the New York Central Terminal on the East Side of Buffalo, New York, as seen in the aftermath of a historic December 2022 blizzard that brought four feet of snow, hurricane-force winds and whiteout conditions to the city - in the words of Erie County Executive Mark Poloncarz, "the worst storm in [the] community's history, surpassing the Blizzard of '77". The premises of the historic Art Deco train station served as one of the main dumping grounds for the snow and ice that were removed from city streets: after the commission tasked with the building's restoration requested that the city stop placing snow on the plaza due to concerns of structural damage to the subterranean parking ramp under the immense weight of the pile, dump trucks were rerouted to the city-owned property next door at 59 Memorial Drive. |
