Description

Eventually, the seeds start growing plants. Here the first true leaves are appearing (the smaller pair of leaves in each cluster). The cells here are about 3/4 inch square.

Note that the combination of hand seeding and germination on an open table leads to some cells with one or two plants and others with many. Professional growers have a machine which will place one or two of the miniscule seeds in each cell and a germination chamber which will reliably germinate the seeds at just the right temperature and humidity levels. For just a few flats of snapdragons the fancy equipment is not worth the expenditure for me.
