NO. 2 NEW WORLD PREHISTORY STRONG 13 Assuming that both the Southwestern and Mexican chronologies arecorrect, it will be necessary either to look elsewhere for contact corri-dors or to locate earlier horizons in western Mexico, so that the cul-tural interplay between these two major archeological provinces maybe clarified. The results of the present investigations will be presented in tworeports. One, Excavations at Apatzingan, Michoacan, is in prepa-ration. The other, Introduction to the Archeology of the Autlan-Tuxcacuesco Area of Jalisco, has been completed and delivered tothe University of California Press. It includes an appendix by JamesGavan which deals with the skeletal material. The physical anthro-pology of the Apatzingan area will be treated by an as yet undesig-nated member of the Museo Nacional staff.
