[edit]DescriptionSmithfield Street Bridge-1883 (8072197495).jpg |
Visiting Pittsburgh for the first time in more than 50 years, I was impressed by the 129-year-old through truss bridge. It was the first American bridge to use the lenticular (lens-shaped) design, and is probably the earliest major truss bridge still in use. I taak the photo from the Mt. Washington area above the Monongahela River the in late afternoon. |
