| Description |
English: Sloane memorial, Killyleagh Sir Hans Sloane (1660-1753) was born in Killyleagh. He acquired a considerable library and collection of curiosities. He bequeathed them to the nation, on condition that parliament paid his executors £20,000 said to be less than its true value. The collection was opened to the public at Bloomsbury, as the British Museum, in 1759. This memorial stands outside Killyleagh Castle 322113. |
