After a few weeks of pulling off scams as a team and sharing their succcess, there was not much reason for Lori and Conrad to end up sharing their company in bed.
Nestled in the sheets under the down comforter, this was not the place for them to test out their differences in strategies as they did almost every day in the field. This place was neutral, where their differences were parked at the door.
This was Switzerland for these two parties at secret war with each other.
Or so they said so to each other. Lori, never one to look pas a good lover, had no pretension that this was anything more than a passing thing; Conrad has his plus sides, but no one was kidding her that this was anything more than a matter of mutual convenience.
This she kep to herself.
Conrad had no illusions either. He always stopped well short of honest emotional engagement, not that he knew what that was, how many layers of identity and ruse within a ruse would one have to peel back to locate a heartfeklt feeling inside the iron cage? This was all about the goal, of what he had promised to his brother.
This he kept to himself.
"Shall we make some breakfast, lover?" she cooed softly, laying it on just thinck enough.
"Eventually, " he said with his sly, devious smile. "Soon. We're not done here by a long shot."
And so each played their part.
