Description
  • De Elbe is een sleepboot. Na 17 jaar als zeesleper heeft het schip als loodsboot en actieschip voor Greenpeace gediend. Het schip kwam in 1959 in de vaart. Internationale bekendheid kreeg het schip in de tijd dat het op wacht lag op bergingsstation Fayal op de Azoren met de berging van de Duitse tanker Richard Kaselowsky. De tanker had een gebroken krukas en werd door de Elbe naar Hamburg gebracht. Op haar tweede sleepreis in mei 1959 werd het Admiraliteitsdok van 54.000 ton van Portsmouth naar de Rotterdamse Droogdok Maatschappij - samen met de Tasman Zee en de Schelde - haalde de kranten. Na de eerste grote onderhoudsbeurt in 1963 was de Elbe tot aan de indienststelling van de Zwarte Zee de sterkste sleepboot ter wereld. Het is nu een museumschip. * Tekst: Wikipedia.
