Summary
[edit]DescriptionSlate spoil heaps near Glyn Ceiriog - geograph.org.uk - 226812.jpg |
English: Slate spoil heaps near Glyn Ceiriog. There used to be extensive slate quarrying in this area, and the waste was dumped in this location, in huge mounds. Pine trees have stabilised these artificial hills and the pine needles (which would normally inhibit plant life) provide a foothold for certain types of plants. They also appear to seal the slate rocks by filling in the crevices. |
