Horní hrana čelního svahu kuesty geomorfologického okrsku Štěpánovská stupňovina u místní komunikace Štěpánov – Zbožnov je rozhledovým místem do mírně zvlněné krajiny Skutečské pahorkatiny nad levým břehem Anenského potoka pod Lažanami (část Skutče) a jeho dominantou, věží kostela sv. Václava. Pod strmými a místy až 40 m vysokými stráněmi protéká Anenský potok od prameniště u Lažan, nejprve významnou geologickou lokalitou Malhošť (dříve přírodní rezervací) a pod částí přírodní rezervace a evropsky významné lokality Anenské údolí také se Zbožnovským rybníkem na úpatí kuesty Štěpánovské stupňoviny. Rybník i levostranné přítoky Anenského potoka jsou lemovány vzrostlými dřevinami.
