Description

Der Höhlenbär (Ursus spelaeus)

Er ist wahrscheinlich das am besten untersuchte Tier der Eiszeit. Er kam in ganz Europa vor. Besonders häufig findet man seine Überreste in den Höhlen der Alpen und des Alpenvorlandes.

Er war Pflanzenfresser (Vegetarier), und auch sein Pflanzenfressergebiss unterscheidet ihn vom Braunbären. Sein Körper war massiger und musste ein größeres Gewicht tragen. Wahrscheinlich wog er bis zu 1000 kg.
