| Description |
English: Skip Bridge The old Skip Bridge across the River Nidd near Kirk Hammerton. Debris brought here by recent floodwaters pile up against the stonework, whilst the still swollen river nearly reaches the top of the arches.
Although no longer part of the A59 [a new bridge was built in the 1970's] the road loop over the bridge has fresh tarmac and is used as a lay by. Unfortunately the bridge has suffered damage from vandals, whilst saplings grow out of the stonework threatening the structure, but the worst eyesore is the mountain of rubbish which has been thrown into the river and surrounding vegetation by litter louts. |
