| Description |
English: Skiing down from Citron Seat under a Mediterranean sky The bridleway on the south side of the wall follows a track (not shown on the map) which curves away to cross Eller Beck. Without the track, the snow underski becomes much less consolidated, and better progress was made on the north side of the wall, where the snow has been more shaded, and more exposed to the northeasterly wind. This side, the crust is mostly strong enough not to break through. The photo was taken from the point where I left the ridge to head back down to the Sleightholme road. A lot of the snow en route was of the thick crust over heather and airspace variety, resulting in inconsistently breaking through to thigh depth and getting the skis tangled in the stems - very hard work, and even the dog resorted to following in my tracks, as she could not see out of the hole when she broke through on her own ! |
