Summary
[edit]DescriptionSiva as "Nataraja" with Parvati in Vizhinjam Cave Temple (Trivandrum, Kerala).jpg |
English: Located about 15 kilometers south of Thiruvananthapuram Kerala, is a small 8th-century rock-cut temple. The temple has an open mandapa and its walls are exposed facing rain and air erosion, though the nearby trees provide some cover.
In the sanctum is the teacher-yogi form of Shiva also known as Dakshinamurti. On the left wall is Tripurantaka, on the right is a Nataraja-Parvati couple that is more eroded or incomplete. There are additional minor carvings. The site is protected as an Archaeological Society of India monument. |
