English: Fossil dinosaur tracks at the quarry floor of the abandoned De Lucia limestone quarry at the Pontrelli estate (Masseria Pontrelli, the locality hence is also called “Cava Pontrelli”, i.e. Pontrelli quarry), about 4 km east of the town of Altamura, metropolitan area of Bari, Apulia, southern Italy. This track is the holotype of the ichnospecies Apulosauripus federicianus NICOSIA et al. 1999. It is composed of concave imprints of fore and hindfeet in a fine-grained limestone which represents the muddy deposits of an ancient tidal flat environment. The track-bearing bed is part of the Altamura Limestone Formation whose age estimation ranges from the Turonian to the Maastrichtian (higher Upper Cretaceous). Trackmaker probably was a hadrosaur similar to the North American genus Edmontosaurus.[1][2]
