| Description |
English: Site of the Cavan and Leitrim Railway This unprepossessing hedgerow follows the line of the old Cavan and Leitrim railway. The railway, opened in 1887, was of narrow gauge (3ft) and ran from Dromod on the main Dublin-Sligo line via Ballinamore to Belturbet. Thanks to coal traffic carried on an extension from Ballinamore to the mines at Arigna, the line remained open until 1959. |
