Summary
[edit]DescriptionSite of South Cerney Locks - geograph.org.uk - 1049521.jpg |
English: Site of South Cerney Locks A flight of three locks lifted the Thames & Severn canal at this point. Two of them were in what is now a field between the photographer and the house at what was the top lock in the distance. All that can be seen at the moment are some mounds in the field. It is believed that the lock chambers were simply infilled with spoil and thus they may be better protected from the ravages of nature than those left exposed. Restoration may therefore hopefully be mainly an excavation exercise rather than a much more complicated rebuild. |
