Summary

[edit]
Description
English: Site of Roman villa It was here that the Pembrokeshire antiquarian Richard Fenton, of Fishguard, described finding what he identified as the remains of a Roman villa. 200 years later the site was excavated by another local archaeologist, Dr Mark Merrony, who was able to confirm Fenton's opinion by discovering a mosaic stone floor, pottery and other signs of a 'Romanised farmstead'. This was the first time it had been established that the Romans lived so far west. It is probably no coincidence that an iron age encampment was situated close by. The village of Wolfscastle can be seen in the distance.

NB The site is near, but not on, a public right of way.
