| Description |
English: Site of Model Bakery, Omagh. The Model Bakery Shop was located here along Sedan Avenue. In behind that was the bakery itself. In the early 1950's to the mid 1960's the managing director was a Vincent Traynor who also along with his family started the Silverbirch Hotel in a collection of old Second World War buildings opposite the entrance to the Lisanelly Barracks. see 584934 Also along here was Coyle's store which was the agent for Calor gas and wee Jimmy McCrory's bicycle repair shop. All these premises were acquired in stages by the Western Education and Library Board when they were responsible for the old Technical College. The bakery was adapted by the Youth Department as a "Drop-in Centre" which was subject to a lot of vandalism. They were all removed in the late 1990's to make way for the present College campus. An eyesore which was thankfully demolished was Strule House 94844. |
