Summary

[edit]
Description
English: The historical rebellion by John Brown and his son along with a handful of slaves raided a warehouse of arms in Harpers Ferry, West Virginia. The year was 1859. The raid on the armory failed. This event took place before the Civil War. John Brown was an abolitionist. He detested slavery and the planned uprising at Harpers Ferry was supposed to create a wider rebellion from the slaves themselves buy that event did not occur.

The photos of the warehouse are located on a historical site near Bolivar, West Virginia. The photos of the church is point of interest in Harpers Ferry as a reminder of the Irish immigrants that supported the building of the church before and after the civil war.

The actual location of the armory was up on a small hill not far from this relocated reconstruction of the warehouse. A monument is standing where the armory was located at the time of the actual rebellion.

The church is small but spiritually interesting. The preserved township of the old Harpers Ferry is a national treasure and when you walk through the streets, once can "feel" the past. The local church is said to be haunted and when the sun is going down spirits have been seen by tourists.
