Summary

[edit]
Description
English: Site of Dinnet Station
The trackbed is now a path. A platform is clearly visible, made of reenforced concrete. The railway was never completed, reputedly sabotaged by Queen Victoria who considered that Ballater was close enough to Balmoral. Who knows, if they had made it to Braemar, they could have gone on to Aviemore via Glen Geldie. That would have kept the snowploughs busy! Alternatively the purchase of Balmoral by Prince Albert prompted the investment needed to get the line up to Ballater. The line was closed in July 1966.
