Summary

[edit]
Description
English: Site of Ash Town Station
The station was originally called Ash Platform but was soon renamed Ash Town. It had a single brick-faced platform on the up side of the line; a wooden open-fronted shelter, with a canopy, was a later addition. The station was sited some distance from the village along a footpath with no road access. It was opened on 16 October 1916, closed to passengers on 1 November 1948 and closed completely on 1 March 1951. In this view, the site would have been on the other side of the drain. The route of the railway would have continued beyond the gates along what is known nowadays as the Jack Foat Trust Country Park. Jack Foat was an Ash fruit grower who died in 1978.
