Summary
[edit]DescriptionSir James Murray's letterbox - geograph.org.uk - 718072.jpg |
English: Sir James Murray's pillar box outside 78 Banbury Road, Oxford. Its position is explained by the blue plaque above:
Sir James Murray Editor of the Oxford English Dictionary lived here 1885-1915. This was the period covering the bulk of his work towards the completion of the mammoth dictionary and his correspondence with contributors was so intensive that a personal post box was installed to cope with it.
