Summary
[edit]DescriptionPortrait supposedly of Sir Thomas Richardson (d.1635), Lord Chief Justice, but wrong heraldry.jpg |
English:
Portrait supposedly of Sir Thomas Richardson (1569-1635) but the coat of arms (Three annulets) identifies him as someone else. It is known with certainty that the arms of Sir Thomas Richardson (1569-1635) Speaker of the House of Commons, Chief Justice of the Common Pleas and Chief Justice of the King's Bench, were: Or, on a chief sable three lion's heads erased of the field (Burke, Sir Bernard, The General Armory, London, 1884, p.853) as shown on his portrait (but with field argent) (see image File:Sir Thomas Richardson, Unknown artist, Norwich Civic Portrait Collection.jpg) and as sculpted on the ledger stone of his daughter Mary Richardson (wife of John Webb (1588-1658)) in St Margaret's Church, Breckles, Norfolk (see image File:St Margaret's church Breckles Norfolk (264010538).jpg |
