Summary
[edit]DescriptionSinger Building Prince Street facade.jpg | The Singer Building at 561 Broadway between Prince and Spring Streets in the SoHo neighborhood of Manhattan, New York City, was originally built in 1902-1904 for the Singer Manufacturing Company, and was designed by Ernest Flagg. An L-shaped building, it has a facade on Prince Street as well. The building has been called the Paul Building and the "Little Singer Building" to distinguish it from the Singer Tower, now demolished. The avant-garde steel, glass and terra-cotta facade anticipates the "curtain wall" of later buildings. (Source: AIA Guide to NYC (4th ed.)) |
