Summary
[edit]DescriptionSimplified fictitious autobiography wrt piles and heaps.gif |
English: Simplified fictitious autobiography w.r.t. piles and heaps, from my birth (0) up to now (7). A red pile I didn't consider a heap when I saw it, while a green one I did. The "env" row shows the judgement of my then environment, and the "now" row shows my opinion today (7), green and red meaning "a heap" and "not a heap", respectively.
Particular comments: That pile at (1) was larger than everyone I'd seen before, I was really impressed, but nobody else was. My mother agreed to my judgement at (2) presumably to make me shut up at last. It's a border case, anyway. After The Huge Heap showed up (3) nobody dared to call another pile a heap for a long time (4,5,6). In fact, I was among the first (5,6) who dared again. Altogether, both my own (1,4) and my environment's (2,4) standards about heaps changed over time. However, my today's view is consistent: no pile smaller than (2) is a heap, but every pile larger than (4) is, in between, I can't tell. |
