Silver shilling of Elizabeth I (1560-1561)
Description
English: Silver shilling of Elizabeth I of the second issue dating to 1560-1; initial mark is a cross crosslet, which indicates it was produced under Thomas Stanley in the main Tower mint during the recoinage of 1560-1 when the tower had two separate mints. Obverse has crowned bust facing left and the legend ELIZABETH [D G] ANG [FR] ET HIB REGINA. The reverse has a squared shield on long cross fourchée dividing the legend POSVI/DEV AD/IVTORE/M MEV .
