Summary

[edit]
Description silver arnica, Arnica chamissonis ssp. incana, White Mountains, elevation 3045 m (9995 ft). Though not recognized in most recent floras, this form is distinctive and uniform in the White Mountains, where it has sometimes been confused with Arnica parryi (including by me). Also visible are wiregrass (Juncus balticus), leaves of yarrow (Achillea millefolium, lower right), fruiting King bladderpod (Physaria kingii ssp. kingi, lower left), desert stickseed (Lappula redowskii var. redowskii), slender wheatgrass (Elymus trachycaulus var. trachycaulus), etc.
