Description
English: These samaras are actually considered fruit. The shape of a samara enables the wind to carry the seed farther away than regular seeds from the parent tree. Samaras have several nicknames including helicopters, whirligig, polynose, and spinning jenny. Photo by Joanna Gilkeson/USFWS
