Silver Gull, Parasitic Jaeger, Chroicocephalus novaehollandiae, Stercorarius parasiticus +=====================+ 2020 Lockdown Lucky-dip I have taken to opening the library, closing my eyes, clicking on a year, then a month and then a date, and looking to see what I might have missed. I've always known it as Arctic Jaegar, but my old field guide is out of date. We only see them occasionally over the summer, and rarely close in. I've never seen them put a gull down, but they will harass the gull until it drops, or disgorges its meal. Besties to all my fellow lockdownees. From the Global Headquarters of The Doona Hermit |
