Description The Sikorsky VS-44 "NC 14881" being loaded on a barge at St. Thomas, Virgin Islands to be shipped to the U.S. National Museum of Naval Aviation at Pensacola, Florida (USA), circa 1977. On 3 January 1969 NC 14881 was extensively damaged by rocks while taxiing at Charlotte Amalie, U.S. Virgin Islands. Damaged beyond economic repair, it was beached in March 1972 and converted into a hot dog stand. In 1976, the aircraft was donated to the National Museum of Naval Aviation.
