Summary
[edit]DescriptionSikorsky R-6 Doman Conversion (2834547157).jpg | Sikorsky R-6 Doman Conversion - The 3 bladed rotor, with flapping and lead-lag hinges and lag dampers was replaced by a hinge less rotor. This soft-in-plane, hinge less rotor is driven by a constant-velocity universal joint making it free to tilt relative to the fuselage without causing any stress or vibratory effects. Blades are so well balanced that finger-tip control forces were enjoyed without any servos. Mechanical push-pull cyclic controls were replaced by two push-pull hydraulic systems, one for normal cyclic and one for cyclic trim. The soft-in-plane, hinge less rotor concept was adopted by many designers about 40 years later. |
