Description
English: Sign for the Ye Olde Two Brewers Inn, Shaftesbury This sign often shows two men carrying a barrel of beer suspended from a pole. With that image, it is a direct descendant of the Roman sign for a Vintner: two men carrying an amphora suspended from a pole. The number two appears on pub signs frequently but does not appear to have any special meaning.
