| Description |
English: Sign for Ye Olde Mail Coach Mail coaches were introduced in 1784 with a trial run Bristol to London. The coaches soon replaced the mail carts and carriers who took the mail by horseback. The coaches continued to be used until 1864 by which time the railway reigned supreme. |
