Description
Español: Chaparral de rebollo [Quercus pyrenaica] en la cara norte de la Sierra de Ayllón (Segovia, Castilla y León, España) El monte de rebollo fue cortado regularmente durante siglos para hacer carbón vegetal; en las décadas de 1960 y 1970, dejó de hacerse por la implantación del butano y el propano como combustible doméstico. Esto, unido a la capacidad de esta especie de rebrotar de cepa e, incluso de raíz, generó matas continuas de arbolillos, todos de la misma edad, muy tupidos.
English: Oak [Quercus pyrenaica] chaparral on the north face of Ayllón Range. Segovia, Castile and León, Spain The oak bush was regularly cut for centuries to make charcoal; in the 1960s and 1970s, it stopped being made by the implantation of butane and propane as domestic fuel. This, together with the ability of this species to regrow from strain and, even from root, generated continuous thickets of trees, all of the same age, very bushy
