English: Siege of Kiev by Batu in 1240 (miniature from the Russian Facial chronicle of the 16th century). "From a number of projectile weapons, the Tatars fired non-stop day and night; and the townspeople resisted the Tatars stubbornly; and there were many dead; and blood flowed like water".
Русский: Осада Киева войсками Бату-хана. Миниатюра из Лицевого летописного свода (том 5 стр. 453). «Из множества метательных орудий били татары без остановки днем и ночью; а горожане же татарам противостояли упорно; и было мертвых много; и лилась кровь, как вода».
