English: The Siberian rubythroat, initially documented by Peter Simon Pallas in 1776, is a diminutive passerine bird. Formerly categorized within the thrush family, Turdidae, it is now more broadly recognized as an Old World flycatcher belonging to the family Muscicapidae. This lively, long-legged songbird migrates to areas with dense understory coverage during winter, particularly near wet environments, and breeds in open taiga and highland forest clearings. Displaying a timid nature, it tends to remain concealed.

The Siberian rubythroat is characterized by its pale brown upper plumage, whitish underparts, olive-brown flanks, and a subtle pale supercilium. Adult males boast a distinctive jewel-like red throat bordered in black and white, while younger males may exhibit a hint of red. In contrast, females lack the red throat feature. Notably, this bird often adopts a posture with drooped wings and a cocked-up tail.

Its melodic repertoire encompasses a variable and beautiful warbling song, occasionally incorporating mimicry. The bird's calls include a low, hoarse "chuk" and a high-pitched "chelee."
