Title
English: Shore of Lake Washington with trees, ca. 1898
Description
English: Between 1897 and 1900, Seattle photographer Anders Wilse took this and other photos along the shore of Lake Washington. These images are historically interesting today because they show the relatively wild state of the lakeshore before the Lake Washington Ship Canal was built and the land along the shore was developed. With the opening of the canal in 1917, the water level of Lake Washington dropped eight to ten feet.
