Summary
[edit]DescriptionShore near Westcliff - view WNW - geograph.org.uk - 1078378.jpg |
English: Shore near Westcliff - view WNW. The navigable channel of the River Clyde was deepened long ago by dredging, but the area of sand to the north of that channel has a very gentle gradient; as a result, care has to be taken here because the returning tide will very quickly work its way up the beach.
The sand here was still very wet, having been exposed for only a short time, and the water that pooled in the ripples was being driven across the shore by an icy wind. Several white specks mark the location of distant buildings. One that is just right of centre is Ardmore House, on the Ardmore Peninsula. It is seen at closer range here: 1069778. |
