Summary

[edit]
Description
English: Shipley Lock, Erewash Canal. This is Lock 72 according to the British Waterways numbering but Lock 2 if you just number historically for the Erewash Canal. This is because this is an extension of the Leicester Branch of the Grand Union Canal and the modern numbering is from the junction with the main Grand Union. This shows the lock empty after a boat has gone down stream towards the River Trent. Compare with 550866 which shows the lock full after a boat has passed up stream.
