進行グラフによる解法

旅人算の解法の1つに進行グラフの解法がある。進行グラフの解釈では、

１　比を使わない場合（進んだ塾では小学５年生で扱うことが多い。）

追いかける者が追いかけ始めた時点での双方の隔たりを起点とし、旅人算の公式

（最初の隔たり）÷(速さの差)＝(追いつきまでにかかる時間)

を使って解く。

２　比を使う方法（進んだ塾では小学６年生で扱うことが多い。）

先行するものと追いかけるものが同じ距離を進むのにかかる時間の比は速さの比の逆比になることを利用し、グラフから、かかる時間を読み取る。

のように２分される。
